The Doctors

Dr. Chris R. Cameron, BSc, DDS, MSc (Dentistry), Cert. Perio FRCD(C)

Dr. Chris Cameron is a certified Periodontist and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He is an active member of the Canadian Academy of Periodontology, the American Academy of Periodontology, the Canadian Dental Association and the Nova Scotia Dental Association.

Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Dr. Cameron moved to Halifax in 1994 to attend the University of King’s College and completed his Bachelor of Science (Honors) in biology and philosophy. Dr. Cameron graduated from Dalhousie University, Faculty of Dentistry in 2004, receiving the American Academy of Periodontics award for outstanding performance in periodontics. Following two years of general dentistry practice in Halifax, Dr. Cameron continued his dental education by attending in 2007, a residency program in periodontics at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Dentistry. Graduating in 2010, Dr. Cameron completed a Masters of Dentistry with research focused on a novel method of training periodontics residents in surgical procedures.

Dr. Cameron lives in Fall River, Nova Scotia with his wife Cindy and his four children, Ellie, Sophie, Maddie and Benjamin. He enjoys time spent outdoors hiking, boating and cycling. He is also fortunate to have been a volunteer basketball coach for 12 years and enjoys coaching some of his girls’ activities.

Dr. Aditya B. Patel, HBSc., DDS, MPerio, FRCD(C)

Dr. Aditya B. Patel is a certified specialist in Periodontics and is a registered Fellow in the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. In 2012, Dr. Patel graduated from the Doctor of Dental Surgery program at the University of Toronto. Following graduation, Dr. Patel enrolled in the Masters of Periodontics program at Dalhousie. During his residency he became well-versed in providing care in all aspects of periodontic specialty treatment and dental implantology. He shares a special interest in periodontal tissue regeneration, advanced bone grafting and CBCT-guided implant therapies.

In addition to providing comprehensive periodontal treatment within the Graduate Periodontics program, Dr. Patel thoroughly enjoyed teaching in the undergraduate DDS clinics. As such, he has chosen to continue teaching at Dalhousie. As a part-time lecturer and clinical instructor, Dr. Patel presents case seminars and supervises third and fourth year dentistry students in the periodontal clinic. He is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Conscious Sedation via nitrous oxide and oral route.

Dr. Patel is a member of the Canadian Academy of Periodontology, American Academy of Periodontology, Canadian Dental Association, International Association of Dental Research and the Nova Scotia Dental Association. He has presented his research at many conferences such as the IADR/CADR 2015, IHRTP Graduate Student Research Day and Canadian Academy of Periodontology AGM 2014.

A dedicated, caring professional, Dr. Patel is a family man who enjoys playing recreational sports including soccer, squash, tennis, and basketball.
